Bryan Bayda, born on August 21, 1961, in Saskatoon, has dedicated his life to the service of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church. After completing his high school education at St. Vladimir's College Minor Seminary in Roblin, Manitoba, he pursued higher education at the University of St. Michael's College in Toronto. There, he earned a Bachelor of Arts in philosophy in nineteen eighty-two, followed by a Master of Divinity in nineteen eighty-seven.
In addition to his theological studies, Bayda furthered his education with a Bachelor of Education from the University of Manitoba in nineteen ninety and a Diploma in Eastern Christian theology from the Sheptytsky Institute in Ottawa in nineteen ninety-seven. His academic background laid a strong foundation for his future roles within the church.
On May 2, 2008, Pope Benedict XVI appointed him as the Eparch of Saskatoon, marking the beginning of his significant contributions to the church. Later, on November 9, 2019, Pope Francis appointed him as the Apostolic Administrator of the Eparchy of Toronto and Eastern Canada. This role was a precursor to his appointment as bishop of the same eparchy on April 28, 2022, solidifying his leadership within the Ukrainian Greek Catholic community.
