In late two thousand two, he triumphed at the prestigious Toyota Marathon at one hundred forty pounds, held at Lumpini Stadium, further solidifying his reputation.

In two thousand four, Buakaw entered the Japanese fighting promotion K-1 Max, where he achieved remarkable success by winning the tournament, defeating notable fighters such as John Wayne Parr and Masato Kobayashi.
