Button Gwinnett, born on April tenth, seventeen thirty-five, was a prominent British-born American politician and a key figure among the Founding Fathers. As a representative of Georgia to the Continental Congress, he made his mark in history by being one of the signers of the United States Declaration of Independence, proudly placing his signature first on the left.

In seventeen seventy-seven, Gwinnett briefly held the position of provisional president of Georgia, showcasing his leadership during a pivotal time in American history. His legacy continues to be honored today, as Gwinnett County, a major suburb of metropolitan Atlanta, bears his name, reflecting his significant contributions to the state.

Gwinnett's life was not without its challenges.
