Byron Donalds

Byron Donalds is an influential American politician and finance professional, currently serving as the U.S. representative for Florida's 19th congressional district since 2021. A member of the Republican Party, he previously held a position in the Florida House of Representatives from 2016 to 2020, representing the 80th district. His congressional district encompasses much of the vibrant Southwest Florida region.

Born on October twenty-eighth, nineteen seventy-eight, in Crown Heights, Brooklyn, Donalds pursued higher education at Florida A&M University before earning a Bachelor of Science degree in finance and marketing from Florida State University in two thousand two. Before embarking on his political career, he gained valuable experience in the finance, insurance, and banking sectors.

Aligning himself with the conservative or MAGA wing of the Republican Party, Donalds was an active participant in the Tea Party movement and made an unsuccessful bid for the U.S. House of Representatives in two thousand twelve. His political journey took a significant turn when he was elected to Congress in twenty twenty, defeating Democratic nominee Cindy Banyai.

In January twenty twenty-three, Donalds was nominated for the speakership of the U.S. House of Representatives during the election, showcasing his growing influence within the party. He was again a candidate for the speakership in the October twenty twenty-three election. Notably, in February twenty twenty-four, Donald Trump mentioned Donalds as a potential running mate, further elevating his profile as a political figure.

In February twenty twenty-five, Donalds announced his candidacy for the governorship of Florida in the upcoming twenty twenty-six election. This announcement came shortly after Trump expressed his
