Vargas embarked on his football journey with Independiente Santa Fe, where he celebrated significant success, clinching two Categoría Primera A titles and the Copa Colombia in two thousand nine. His career took a pivotal turn in two thousand fifteen when he joined Atlético Nacional, followed by loan spells at Argentinos Juniors in Argentina and Deportivo Cali in Colombia.
