Candy Barr

Juanita Dale Slusher, born on July 6, 1935, is better known by her stage name, Candy Barr. She emerged as a prominent figure in the world of adult entertainment during the mid-20th century, captivating audiences as a stripper, burlesque dancer, and actress. Her career flourished in major cities such as Dallas, Los Angeles, and Las Vegas, where she gained nationwide attention for her performances.

Barr's life was marked by both glamour and controversy. She became a tabloid sensation due to her tumultuous relationships with notorious figures like Mickey Cohen and Jack Ruby, as well as her legal troubles, which included a prison sentence for drug possession following a dramatic incident involving her second husband.

After serving three years in prison, Barr relocated to South Texas, where she made a comeback to the stage in the late 1960s. In 1976, she posed for Oui magazine, marking a significant moment in her career before ultimately retiring from the spotlight. In the early 1980s, her legacy was recognized when Texas Monthly honored her as one of history's 'perfect Texans,' celebrating her unique contributions to the cultural landscape of Texas.
