Personal Facts, Age, Height and Biography of Carl Brockelmann

Carl Brockelmann, born on September seventeenth, eighteen sixty-eight, was a distinguished German linguist and orientalist, recognized as the leading figure in his field during his lifetime. His academic journey took him through several prestigious institutions, including the universities of Breslau, Berlin, and Königsberg, where he served as a professor and shared his profound knowledge of Semitic languages and literature.

Among his most notable contributions is the multi-volume work, Geschichte der arabischen Litteratur, first published between eighteen ninety-eight and nineteen hundred two. This comprehensive history of Arabic literature encompasses all writers up to nineteen thirty-seven and has established itself as the essential reference for scholars, with the exception of Christian Arabic texts, which were addressed by Georg Graf.

Brockelmann's scholarly output also includes significant works such as Syrische Grammatik mit Litteratur, Chrestomathie und Glossar, published in eighteen ninety-nine, and Semitische Sprachwissenschaft in nineteen hundred six. His expertise further extended to the Lexicon syriacum, released in nineteen twenty-eight, and the Arabische Grammatik, which he published under his own name in nineteen forty-one, although it was the eleventh edition of Albert Socin's grammar, a work he had revised multiple times.
