Carl E. Walz

Carl E. Walz, born on September sixth, nineteen fifty-five, is a distinguished retired NASA astronaut whose career spans military service, engineering, and aviation. With a robust background as a military officer and aircraft pilot, Walz has made significant contributions to the field of human spaceflight.

Currently, he serves as the vice president for Human Space Flight Operations at Orbital Sciences Corporation's Advanced Programs Group. His expertise and leadership have been instrumental in advancing space exploration initiatives.

Previously, Walz was assigned to the Exploration Systems Mission Directorate at NASA Headquarters in Washington, D.C. In this role, he acted as the Director for the Advanced Capabilities Division, overseeing a diverse array of projects including Human Research, Technology Development, and Nuclear Power and Propulsion. His work has been pivotal in supporting the Vision for Space Exploration and the Lunar Robotic Exploration Programs.
