Carl English

Carl English, born on February second, nineteen eighty-one, in St. John's, Newfoundland, is a distinguished Canadian former professional basketball player and current general manager for the St. John's Edge in the National Basketball League of Canada. Known for his prowess as a shooting guard, English has also represented the Canadian national team on the international stage.

His basketball journey began in his hometown, where he excelled with the provincial youth team and at Fatima Academy before transferring to St. Thomas Aquinas. English's collegiate career spanned four seasons at the NCAA Division I level with the University of Hawaii, where he redshirted his first year due to injury. He made a significant impact in his final two years, earning All-WAC accolades and finishing with the second-most career three-pointers in the school's history.

After going undrafted in the two thousand three NBA draft, English embarked on his professional career in the NBA D-League. His talent soon took him overseas, where he signed with the Italian team Virtus Bologna in two thousand five. He later joined Zadar in Croatia, establishing himself as one of the league's top scorers. In two thousand seven, he moved to Spain, where he led the top Spanish league in scoring while playing for Estudiantes in two thousand thirteen.

In two thousand seventeen, English returned to his roots, joining the St. John's Edge in the NBL Canada. His first season was nothing short of remarkable, as he was honored with the Most Valuable Player award and named Canadian of the Year, solidifying his legacy in his hometown.
