Carl Oberg

Carl Oberg, born on January twenty-seventh, nineteen ninety-seven, was a notorious figure in the Nazi regime, serving as a Senior SS and Police Leader in occupied France from May nineteen forty-two until November nineteen forty-four. His tenure during World War II earned him the grim moniker, the Butcher of Paris, due to his ruthless actions against hostages and the Jewish population.

Under the orders of Reinhard Heydrich, Oberg orchestrated the execution of hundreds of hostages and was instrumental in the deportation of over forty thousand Jews from France to extermination camps. His most infamous act was during the Vel' d'Hiv Roundup, where he collaborated with the Vichy French police to carry out these atrocities.

After the war, Oberg was apprehended by American military police in Tyrol in July nineteen forty-five. He faced justice in two courts, both British and French, which sentenced him to death. However, in nineteen fifty-eight, his sentence was commuted to life imprisonment, later reduced to twenty years of hard labor. Ultimately, he was released on November twenty-eighth, nineteen sixty-two, after receiving a pardon from President Charles de Gaulle.

Carl Oberg passed away in West Germany on June third, nineteen sixty-five, leaving behind a legacy marked by his involvement in one of history's darkest chapters.
