Carla McGhee

Carla McGhee, born on March sixth, nineteen sixty-eight, is a distinguished American former basketball player and coach, celebrated for her remarkable tenure at the University of Tennessee. Despite facing a life-altering car accident in October nineteen eighty-seven that left her in a coma for forty-seven hours, McGhee defied the odds. Doctors predicted she would never play basketball again, yet she emerged stronger, showcasing her resilience and determination.

During her collegiate career with the Tennessee Lady Volunteers, McGhee was instrumental in securing two national championships in nineteen eighty-seven and nineteen eighty-nine, participating in three tournament appearances. She averaged six point one points and five point one rebounds per game, earning a spot on the prestigious 1987 Tennessean All-Freshman team, which highlighted her potential and skill on the court.

After her time at Tennessee, McGhee played one season in the American Basketball League for the Atlanta Glory, where she averaged eight point two points and five point three rebounds per game across twenty-six games. Her international career spanned six seasons, with stints in Germany, Spain, and Italy, where she was recognized as a Spanish League and Spanish/Italian League All-Star in nineteen ninety-three.
