Carlo Acutis

Carlo Acutis was an English-born Italian Catholic teenager whose life was marked by a profound devotion to the Eucharist and a remarkable ability to harness digital media for the promotion of Catholic faith. Born in London on May 3, 1991, and raised in Milan, Carlo developed an early fascination with computers and video games. He taught himself programming and web design, using his skills to assist his parish and school with various digital projects.

Active in his local parish, Carlo served as a catechist, inspiring many to explore and embrace Catholicism. His passion for the faith led him to create a website that documented Eucharistic miracles and Marian apparitions, showcasing his commitment to sharing the beauty of his beliefs with the world. Tragically, Carlo's life was cut short when he was diagnosed with acute promyelocytic leukaemia, passing away at the tender age of fifteen.

Following his death, Carlo's relics were displayed in Assisi, and his exhibitions on Eucharistic miracles gained international attention, traveling across the globe. In 2020, the Catholic Church beatified him, recognizing a miracle attributed to his intercession in 2013. A second miracle in Italy in 2024 further solidified his path towards canonization, which was ultimately achieved on September 7, 2025, alongside Pier Giorgio Frassati. Carlo Acutis became the first millennial to be declared a Catholic saint, earning titles such as the 'patron saint of the Internet' and 'God's influencer.'

Despite his canonization, some skepticism remains regarding the extraordinary nature of his life, with critics noting that his brief existence offered few remarkable actions. Friends from his childhood described him as kind, though not overtly pious or religious. Additionally, questions have arisen about the financial support from his family, which some suggest may have expedited the canonization process. However, Fr. Nicola Gori, Carlo's postulator, has firmly stated that financial contributions did not influence the cause.
