His early artistic development took place in the Veneto region, where he was influenced by notable artists such as the Vivarini, Squarcione, and Mantegna.

By the year one thousand four hundred fifty-eight, Crivelli left the Veneto and relocated to the March of Ancona. This move marked a significant turning point in his career, allowing him to cultivate a unique artistic voice that set him apart from his contemporaries, particularly the Venetian painter Giovanni Bellini.
