Carlo Janka

Carlo Janka, born on October 15, 1986, in Obersaxen, Graubünden, Switzerland, is a distinguished former alpine ski racer. Growing up with winter sports facilities right at his doorstep, Janka developed a passion for skiing that would lead him to remarkable achievements on the international stage.

Throughout his illustrious career, Janka has earned gold medals at both the Winter Olympics and the World Championships, showcasing his exceptional talent and dedication to the sport. He also claimed one World Cup overall title, a discipline title, and an unofficial alpine combined title, solidifying his status as one of the elite athletes in alpine skiing.

In a remarkable feat in 2013, Janka set a World Cup speed record during the downhill segment of the super combined event in Wengen, Switzerland. On January 18, he reached an astonishing maximum speed of one hundred fifty-eight point seventy-seven kilometers per hour, or ninety-eight point sixty-six miles per hour, on the Haneggschuss, the fastest section of the iconic Lauberhorn slope.
