Carlos Luz

Personal Facts, Age, Height and Biography of Carlos Luz

Carlos Luz, born on August fourth, nineteen hundred and ninety-four, was a multifaceted Brazilian politician, lawyer, teacher, and journalist. He is notably recognized for his brief tenure as the acting president of Brazil, serving from November eighth to November eleventh in nineteen fifty-five, making him the shortest-serving president in the nation's history.

His presidency came during a tumultuous period following the suicide of Getúlio Vargas in nineteen fifty-four. Luz was the second of three presidents to lead Brazil within a mere sixteen months. At the time of President Café Filho's alleged illness, Luz held the position of president of the Chamber of Deputies, placing him next in line for the presidency.

However, his time in office was cut short due to the Brazilian coup d'état of nineteen fifty-five. Fearing that Luz might support a plot to obstruct the inauguration of President-elect Juscelino Kubitschek, Minister of Defence Henrique Teixeira Lott ordered his removal. Congress, under military pressure, declared Luz unable to fulfill his presidential duties.

In his personal life, Luz was married to Maria José Dantas Luz from nineteen twenty until her untimely death in nineteen twenty-four, with whom he had two children. He later married Graciema da Luz, remaining with her until his death in Rio de Janeiro in February nineteen sixty-one.
