Carlos Manuel Piedra

Carlos Manuel Piedra, born on January first, eighteen ninety-five, was a prominent figure in Cuban politics and law. He served as the Interim President of Cuba for a brief period on January first, nineteen fifty-nine, during a pivotal moment in the Cuban Revolution. His appointment came from a junta led by Major General Eulogio Cantillo, adhering to the stipulations of the nineteen forty Cuban Constitution.

Before stepping into the role of interim president, Piedra held the esteemed position of the eldest judge of the Supreme Court. His presidency marked a significant historical moment, as he was the last leader to be born under Spanish Cuba. However, his tenure was met with resistance from revolutionary leader Fidel Castro, who advocated for Manuel Urrutia to take the position instead.
