Carlos, born on October twelfth, nineteen forty-nine, is a Venezuelan convict infamous for his role as a military personnel and terrorist. His activities spanned from nineteen seventy-three to nineteen eighty-five, during which he orchestrated a series of assassinations and terrorist bombings. A staunch Marxist–Leninist, Carlos became one of the most notorious political terrorists of his time, receiving support from organizations such as the Stasi and the KGB.
Among his most notorious acts was the 1975 raid on the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) headquarters in Vienna, where three individuals lost their lives. Following this, Carlos and five accomplices took hostages and demanded a plane, ultimately flying to Libya. His violent campaign escalated further when his wife, Magdalena Kopp, was arrested. In retaliation, he orchestrated a series of bombings that claimed eleven lives and injured over one hundred people, demanding her release from French authorities.
For many years, Carlos was one of the most-wanted international fugitives. His capture came through extrajudicial means in Sudan, after which he was transferred to France. There, he faced multiple convictions, including the murder of a French government informant and two counterintelligence agents in nineteen seventy-five. He is currently serving three life sentences for his crimes, with additional convictions for attacks in France that resulted in eleven deaths and one hundred fifty injuries, leading to further life terms in two thousand eleven and two thousand seventeen.
