Carol Huynh

Carol Huynh, born on November sixteenth, nineteen eighty, is a distinguished retired Canadian freestyle wrestler who made history as the first gold medalist for Canada in women's wrestling. Her remarkable achievement at the two thousand eight Beijing Olympics not only marked a significant milestone for her career but also for the nation.

Throughout her illustrious career, Huynh has garnered numerous accolades, including being a champion at the two thousand ten Commonwealth Games and a two-time Pan American Games champion. Her prowess on the mat is further highlighted by her impressive record at world championships, where she earned one silver and three bronze medals, alongside her eleven national titles.

After competing in the two thousand twelve Olympics, Huynh transitioned from athlete to coach, taking the helm of the University of Calgary Dinos wrestling team. Her contributions to the sport were recognized in two thousand thirteen when she was inducted into the United World Wrestling Hall of Fame.

In early two thousand fifteen, she was appointed as a United World Wrestling Super 8 Ambassador, focusing on the development of women in wrestling. Additionally, she served as the Chair of the United World Wrestling Athletes Commission from two thousand thirteen to two thousand seventeen. As of two thousand twenty, she continues to inspire the next generation as the coach of Wrestling Canada's Next Gen team based in Calgary.
