Caroline Shaw

Caroline Shaw, born on August first, nineteen eighty-two, is a distinguished American composer, violinist, and singer known for her innovative contributions to contemporary classical music.

As a founding member of the acclaimed vocal ensemble Roomful of Teeth, Shaw has redefined the boundaries of vocal performance. Her groundbreaking work, Partita for 8 Voices, earned her the prestigious Pulitzer Prize for Music in two thousand thirteen, marking a significant milestone in her career.

In addition to her Pulitzer recognition, Shaw's talent has been celebrated with multiple Grammy Awards. In two thousand twenty-two, she received the Grammy Award for Best Contemporary Classical Composition for her piece Narrow Sea. Furthermore, her work Rectangles and Circumstance garnered the Grammy Award for Best Chamber Music/Small Ensemble Performance in two thousand twenty-five.
