Carolyn Waldo

Carolyn Waldo, born on December eleventh, nineteen sixty-four, is a distinguished Canadian former synchronized swimmer and sports commentator. She is celebrated for her remarkable achievements in the world of synchronized swimming, particularly for her outstanding performance at the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul, South Korea, where she clinched two gold medals in the Women's Solo and Women's Duet events alongside her partner, Michelle Cameron.

Waldo's illustrious career is marked by numerous accolades, including a silver medal at the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles. Her competitive prowess was further demonstrated through her victories at prestigious events such as the 1985 Rome and Spanish Opens, the 1985 FINA World Cup, the 1986 Spanish Open, the 1986 Commonwealth Games, the 1986 World Championships, the 1987 Pan Pacific Championships, and the 1987 FINA World Cup.

In recognition of her contributions to sports, Waldo was appointed an Officer of the Order of Canada and received the Velma Springstead Trophy four times. After retiring from competitive swimming in nineteen eighty-eight, she transitioned to a career in broadcasting, serving as a sportscaster for CJOH in Ottawa, Ontario, until her departure from the station on November seventeenth, two thousand fifteen.
