Carrie Steinseifer

Carrie Lynne Steinseifer, born on February 12, 1968, is a celebrated American swimmer who made her mark as an Olympic champion. Known for her exceptional talent in the pool, she achieved remarkable success at the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, where she secured gold medals in the women's 100-meter freestyle, the 4×100-meter freestyle relay, and the 4×100-meter medley relay.

Steinseifer's journey in competitive swimming began at a young age. At just fifteen, she showcased her prowess at the 1983 Pan American Games in Caracas, Venezuela, winning gold in both the 4×100-meter freestyle and 4×100-meter medley relays. Her talent continued to shine as she turned seventeen, earning gold medals in the 200-meter freestyle, the 4×100-meter freestyle relay, and the 4×200-meter relay, along with a silver in the 100-meter freestyle at the 1985 Pan Pacific Swimming Championships in Tokyo, Japan.

Her collegiate career at the University of Texas was equally impressive, where she swam under the guidance of coach Richard Quick. Steinseifer was instrumental in the success of the Texas Longhorns swimming and diving team, contributing to three NCAA national championship relay teams and playing a vital role in the team's national championships in 1987 and 1988.

Continuing her international success, she won a gold medal in the 4×100-meter freestyle relay at the 1987 Pan American Games in Indianapolis and another gold at the 1989 Pan Pacific Swimming Championships in Tokyo.
