Personal Facts, Age, Height and Biography of Catherine Howard

Catherine Howard, born in 1523, was a prominent figure in the Tudor court, serving as a lady-in-waiting before ascending to the role of Queen of England. As the fifth wife of King Henry VIII, she held the crown from July 1540 until her downfall in November 1541. Catherine was the daughter of Lord Edmund Howard and Joyce Culpeper, and she was related to notable figures in the court, including her first cousin Anne Boleyn and her uncle Thomas Howard, the 3rd Duke of Norfolk.

Her rise to prominence began when Thomas Howard secured her a position in the household of Anne of Cleves, Henry's fourth wife. It was here that Catherine caught the King's eye, leading to their marriage on 28 July 1540 at Oatlands Palace in Surrey, a mere nineteen days after the annulment of Henry's previous marriage. At the time of their union, Henry was forty-nine years old, while Catherine was believed to be around seventeen.

Despite her initial success, Catherine's reign as queen was short-lived. In November 1541, she was stripped of her title and faced grave accusations of treason due to her alleged affair with her distant cousin, Thomas Culpeper. This scandal ultimately led to her execution by beheading just three months later, marking a tragic end to her brief and tumultuous life.
