Cathy Shaw

Cathy Shaw, a distinguished Canadian curler, hails from Winnipeg, Manitoba. Her curling journey began during her time at Miles Macdonell Collegiate, where she and her twin sister, Chris, achieved remarkable success by winning three consecutive provincial junior championships from nineteen seventy-two to nineteen seventy-four. Their talent shone brightly as they clinched two Canadian Junior Curling Championships in nineteen seventy-two and nineteen seventy-four, with Cathy playing third on the team skipped by her sister.

In nineteen seventy-eight, Cathy took on the role of skip for a team that included her sister Chris at third, alongside Iris Armstrong at second and Patti Vande at lead. This formidable lineup triumphed at the Manitoba Lassie provincial championship and went on to secure victory at the nineteen seventy-eight Macdonald Lassies Championship, which was the national women's curling championship at that time.

Shaw's curling career continued to flourish as she moved to Yellowknife, Northwest Territories, where she won the territorial championship in nineteen eighty with teammates Donna Alexander, Lee Brooks, and Marilyn Paradis. They represented the Northwest Territories/Yukon at the nineteen eighty Canadian Ladies Curling Association Championship, finishing with a five and six record. Later, she relocated to Edmonton, Alberta, where she won the Alberta Scott Tournament of Hearts with teammates Karen Jones, Sandra Rippel (Jenkins), and Donna Martineau.

The team represented Alberta at the nineteen eighty-two Scott Tournament of Hearts, finishing the round robin in a five-way tie with a record of seven and three, but fell to Saskatchewan's Arleen Day in a tie breaker. They achieved further success in nineteen eighty-three, winning the Alberta championship again and representing the province at the nineteen eighty-three Scott Tournament of Hearts. After finishing the round robin with another seven and three record, they advanced to the semi-final, defeating the Northwest Territories/Yukon team skipped by Shelly Bildfell, but ultimately lost to Nova Scotia's Penny LaRocque rink in the final.

Currently residing in Toronto, Cathy Shaw remains active in the curling community, competing in Ontario. She has recently skipped teams at the two thousand fifteen Ontario Masters and the two thousand fifteen Ontario Seniors championships, showcasing her enduring passion for the sport.
