Personal Facts, Age, Height and Biography of Cecil Healy

Cecil Healy, born on November twenty-eighth, eighteen eighty-one, was a prominent Australian freestyle swimmer who made his mark in the early twentieth century. Healy's swimming career flourished during the 1900s and 1910s, a period when he emerged as one of the leading athletes in his sport.

At the 1912 Summer Olympics held in Stockholm, Healy showcased his exceptional talent by winning a silver medal in the one hundred meter freestyle event. His prowess in the water was further highlighted when he contributed to the Australian team’s success, securing a gold medal in the four by two hundred meter freestyle relay.

Tragically, Healy's life was cut short during the First World War. He was killed at the Somme while bravely participating in an attack on a German trench. His sacrifice is a poignant reminder of the many athletes who served their country during times of conflict.

Notably, Healy was the second swimmer to represent Australia in international swimming competitions, following in the footsteps of Frederick Lane. Swimming Australia has honored his legacy by assigning him the number two on their list of all Australians who have competed at an Open International Level.
