Cem Sultan

Cem Sultan, born on December twenty-second, fourteen fifty-nine, was a notable figure in the tumultuous landscape of the fifteenth century Ottoman Empire. As the third son of the illustrious Sultan Mehmed II, he was intricately woven into the fabric of Ottoman royalty, being the younger half-brother of Sultan Bayezid II and a half-uncle to Sultan Selim I.

His claim to the Ottoman throne marked him as a significant political player during a time of intense rivalry and conflict. Following his defeat by his brother Bayezid, Cem found himself in a precarious position, leading him to seek refuge far from the empire's heart.

Exile took Cem across various lands, including Egypt and Europe, where he was under the protection of powerful entities such as the Mamluks and the Knights Hospitaller on the island of Rhodes.
