Cetshwayo

Cetshwayo, born in 1826, was a prominent monarch of the Zulu Kingdom, reigning from 1873 until 1884. His leadership was marked by significant challenges, particularly during the tumultuous period of the Anglo-Zulu War in 1879.

As the Commander in Chief of the Zulu forces, Cetshwayo found himself in a precarious position. Despite his consistent efforts to avoid conflict, he faced the overwhelming might of the British Empire. His attempts to negotiate peace were met with resistance, ultimately leading to a devastating defeat for the Zulu.

Following the war, Cetshwayo was exiled, a consequence of the Zulu's loss. However, his story did not end there. He was eventually permitted to return to his homeland, Zululand, where he continued to influence his people until his death in 1884.
