María Isabel Granda Larco, known to the world as Chabuca Granda, was born on September third, nineteen twenty, in Peru. A multifaceted artist, she excelled as a singer, composer, and poet, leaving an indelible mark on the music scene with her unique blend of Criollo waltzes infused with Afro-Peruvian rhythms.

Chabuca's most celebrated works, including 'La flor de la canela', 'José Antonio', 'El puente de los suspiros', and 'Fina estampa', not only showcased her exceptional talent but also garnered her international acclaim. Her contributions to music have inspired a new generation of Peruvian artists, such as Susana Baca, Eva Ayllón, Gian Marco, and Juan Diego Flórez.

In recognition of her artistic legacy, Chabuca Granda's work was declared a Cultural Heritage of the Nation in two thousand seventeen. Furthermore, in two thousand nineteen, the Peruvian government honored her posthumously with the prestigious Order of the Sun, the highest national accolade.
