Hakeem Temidayo Seriki, known professionally as Chamillionaire, is an influential American rapper, musician, and entrepreneur born on November 28, 1979. He emerged from Houston's vibrant hip hop scene in the late 1990s, initially signing with the local label Swishahouse. In 2002, he formed the hip hop duo Color Changin' Click with fellow artist Paul Wall, releasing the collaborative album 'Get Ya Mind Correct' that same year, which made a significant impact on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart.
In 2005, Chamillionaire signed with Universal Records as a solo artist, releasing his debut studio album, 'The Sound of Revenge.' This album not only peaked within the top ten of the Billboard 200 but also garnered critical acclaim. His breakout single, 'Ridin'' featuring Krayzie Bone, topped the Billboard Hot 100 and earned him a Grammy Award for Best Rap Performance. His follow-up album, 'Ultimate Victory,' released in 2007, was notable for its clean lyrics and included the hit 'Hip Hop Police' featuring Slick Rick.
After leaving Universal Records in 2011, Chamillionaire ventured into independent music, releasing his first EP, 'Ammunition,' in March 2012, followed by 'Elevate' in February 2013 and 'Reignfall' in July of the same year. He also gained recognition for his mixtape series 'Mixtape Messiah,' which spanned from 2004 to 2009. Beyond music, he founded Chamillitary Entertainment in 2004 and became a partner at Upfront Ventures in 2015, focusing on various business initiatives.
