Chariton

Chariton, a prominent novelist and writer of ancient Greece, is best known for his work, often referred to as Chaereas and Callirhoe. This title, derived from the sole surviving manuscript, highlights the central characters of his narrative, which intertwines romance with elements of Greek mythology.

Dating back to the mid-first century AD, Callirhoe stands as the oldest surviving complete ancient prose romance.
