Charles Arnt

Charles E. Arnt, born on August 20, 1906, in Michigan City, Indiana, was a distinguished American film actor whose career spanned from 1933 to 1962. The son of a banker, Arnt's early education took him to Phillips Academy and later to Princeton University, where he not only excelled academically but also played a pivotal role in the arts. He was instrumental in founding the University Players and served as president of the Princeton Triangle Club theatrical troupe.

Before making his mark in film, Arnt honed his craft at the University Repertory Theater in Maryland during the early 1930s. His talent soon led him to Broadway, where he showcased his skills in productions such as Carry Nation in 1932, Three Waltzes in 1937, and Knickerbocker Holiday in 1938. Over his career, he appeared as a character actor in more than two hundred films, leaving a lasting impression on the industry.

In 1962, after nearly three decades in the spotlight, Arnt chose to retire from acting. He shifted his focus to agriculture, importing and breeding Charolais cattle on a ranch in Washington state. This new chapter in his life reflected his diverse interests and talents beyond the silver screen.

Charles Arnt passed away on August 6, 1990, in Orcas Island, Washington, leaving behind a legacy of creativity and dedication to both the performing arts and agriculture.
