Charli XCX

Charlotte Emma Aitchison, known to the world as Charli XCX, is a British singer, songwriter, and actress born on August 2, 1992. She first made waves in the music industry by posting her songs on Myspace in 2008, which led her to immerse herself in the vibrant London rave scene. In 2010, she signed a recording contract with Asylum Records, marking the beginning of her professional career. Although her debut studio album, True Romance, released in 2013, did not achieve commercial success, it laid the groundwork for her future endeavors.

Charli XCX gained significant recognition in 2012 when she was featured on the hit single "I Love It" by Swedish duo Icona Pop, which topped the UK charts and garnered international acclaim. Her collaboration with Iggy Azalea on the single "Fancy" in 2014 further solidified her status, as it became one of the year's best-selling singles worldwide. That same year, she released "Boom Clap," her first solo top-ten single in the United States, and her second studio album, Sucker, which included popular tracks like "Break the Rules" and "Doing It."

In 2015, Charli began collaborating with producers from the UK collective PC Music, leading to a more experimental sound. She released the EP Vroom Vroom in 2016 and the mixtapes Number 1 Angel and Pop 2 in 2017. Her third studio album, Charli, released in 2019, featured the hit single "1999," while her fourth album, How I'm Feeling Now, created during the COVID-19 lockdowns, received critical acclaim.

Her fifth studio album, Crash, released in 2022, marked a significant milestone as it became her first number-one album in both the UK and Australia. In 2023, she contributed the UK top-ten single "Speed Drive" to the Barbie film soundtrack. Charli's sixth studio album, Brat, set to release in 2024, has already been hailed as one of the best albums of the year, featuring the hit "Apple" and earning her three Grammy Awards. The cultural impact of Brat sparked a phenomenon known as Brat Summer, inspiring the film The Moment, which she co-produced and starred in.

Beyond her solo career, Charli XCX has made her mark as a songwriter for other artists, contributing to tracks for Iggy Azalea, Selena Gomez, and Shawn Mendes, among others. In recognition of her influence, she received the ASCAP Global Impact Award in 2024 and was featured on Gold House's most impactful Asian A100 list, making history as the first woman of British Indian origin to receive such an honor.
