Chen Chien-jen

Chen Chien-jen, born on June sixth, nineteen fifty-one, is a distinguished Taiwanese epidemiologist, geneticist, and politician. He earned his doctorate from Johns Hopkins University, which laid the foundation for a remarkable career in medicine and public health. Chen served as a professor of medicine at National Taiwan University, where he made significant contributions to the field.

His political journey began with his appointment as the head of the Ministry of Health from two thousand three to two thousand five. Following this, he led the National Science Council from two thousand six to two thousand eight, showcasing his commitment to advancing science and health in Taiwan. Chen's expertise was further recognized when he became the vice president of Academia Sinica from two thousand eleven to two thousand fifteen.

In two thousand sixteen, Chen joined Tsai Ing-wen on the Democratic Progressive Party presidential ticket, serving as the Vice President of the Republic of China until two thousand twenty. His political career took another turn when he joined the Democratic Progressive Party in two thousand twenty-two and was appointed Premier in January two thousand twenty-three, a role he held until two thousand twenty-four.

Beyond his political endeavors, Chen was a member of the Board of Trustees of Fu Jen Catholic University and served as the Robert J. Ronald Chair Professor at the institution after leaving office. His multifaceted career reflects a deep commitment to public service, education, and health.
