Chen Nien-chin

Chen Nien-chin, born on May 10, 1997, is a talented middleweight boxer hailing from Hualien County, Taiwan. With a rich heritage of Austronesian descent, she proudly represents both the Amis and Bunun communities. Her journey in boxing has been marked by significant achievements and challenges.

In 2016, Chen showcased her skills on the international stage by winning a bronze medal at the world championships. However, her experience at the Rio Olympics was bittersweet, as she faced elimination in her first bout. Despite this setback, her determination and resilience have continued to drive her forward.

In 2019, Chen faced a personal battle when she was diagnosed with stage II Hodgkin lymphoma. After undergoing intensive chemotherapy, she made a remarkable recovery in 2020. This experience not only tested her strength but also fueled her passion for boxing.

Following her recovery, Chen returned to the ring with renewed vigor, competing in the Welterweight category at both the 2020 and 2024 Olympics. Her story is one of perseverance, showcasing the spirit of a true athlete who overcomes adversity to pursue her dreams.
