Chia-ying Yeh

Florence Chia-ying Yeh, born on July 2, 1924, is a distinguished figure in the realms of poetry and sinology. Known by several names, including Ye Jiaying and Jialing, she has made significant contributions to the study of classical Chinese poetry. Her academic journey has spanned continents, reflecting her rich cultural heritage and scholarly dedication.

Yeh's teaching career flourished at the University of British Columbia, where she imparted her knowledge for two decades. Her tenure at UBC culminated in her retirement in 1989, after which she was honored with the title of professor emerita. Her influence extended beyond Canadian borders as she later took on a pivotal role at Nankai University in Tianjin, where she became the founding Director of the Institute of Chinese Classical Culture.

Throughout her illustrious career, Yeh has been recognized for her scholarly achievements, including being named a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada.
