Ching Wan Tang

Ching Wan Tang, born on July twenty-third, nineteen forty-seven, is a distinguished Hong Kong–American physical chemist and chemical engineer. Renowned for his groundbreaking contributions to the field of organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs), he co-invented this transformative technology alongside Steven Van Slyke. His innovative work has not only revolutionized display technologies but has also earned him a prestigious place in the National Inventors Hall of Fame in two thousand eighteen.

In recognition of his exceptional contributions to chemistry, Tang was awarded the Wolf Prize in Chemistry in two thousand eleven. This accolade highlights his significant impact on the scientific community and underscores his role as a leading figure in the advancement of chemical engineering.

Currently, Tang holds the esteemed position of IAS Bank of East Asia Professor at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.
