Cho Min-sun

Cho Min-sun, born on March 21, 1972, is a distinguished South Korean judoka renowned for her remarkable achievements in the sport. She made history by winning a gold medal in the middleweight division at the 1996 Summer Olympics, solidifying her status as one of the top competitors in judo. Additionally, she earned a bronze medal at the 2000 Summer Olympics, showcasing her consistent excellence on the international stage.

Her prowess in judo is further highlighted by her impressive performances at the World Championships, where she clinched gold medals in both 1993 and 1995. Cho's journey in judo began earlier, as she also secured a bronze medal in the -48 kg division at the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul, where women's judo was featured as a demonstration sport.

Uniquely, Cho Min-sun is the only South Korean judoka to have won national championships across five different weight divisions, ranging from forty-eight to sixty-six kilograms. This remarkable versatility underscores her dedication and skill in the sport.

Beyond her competitive achievements, Cho is currently a full professor at Korea National Sport University in Seoul, where she imparts her extensive knowledge and experience to the next generation of athletes.
