Choe Ryong-hae

Choe Ryong-hae, born on January fifteenth, nineteen fifty, is a prominent North Korean politician and military officer. He has held significant positions in the North Korean government, including serving as the Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Supreme People's Assembly and the First Vice President of the State Affairs Commission from April two thousand nineteen to March two thousand twenty-six.

Choe's early life was marked by his lineage, being born to the notable North Korean guerilla Choe Hyon. He joined the Korean People's Army in nineteen sixty-seven, which laid the foundation for his future political career. In the nineteen seventies, he began working as a political instructor for the Workers' Party of Korea at Kim Il Sung University, gradually rising through the ranks of the League of Socialist Working Youth of Korea.

In nineteen ninety-six, following the league's transformation into the Kim Il Sung Socialist Youth League, Choe was appointed its first secretary. His career faced a significant challenge in nineteen ninety-eight when he narrowly escaped execution for selling scrap metal without permission, thanks to the intervention of Kim Jong Il's sister, Kim Kyong-hui.

Choe's political ascent continued as he became the deputy director of the General Affairs Department and later the chief secretary of the Hwanghae Province Party Committee from two thousand six to two thousand ten. By two thousand ten, he had achieved the rank of KPA General and became a member of the WPK Secretariat and Central Military Commission, as well as an alternate member of the Politburo.

After Kim Jong Un assumed leadership in two thousand twelve, Choe was appointed Vice Marshal and took on several key roles, including director of the KPA General Political Bureau. He briefly served as the NDC Vice Chairman in two thousand fourteen but faced a demotion. From two thousand sixteen to two thousand twenty-one, he was a Vice Chairman of the Workers' Party of Korea and was appointed to the Central Military Commission in two thousand seventeen. His leadership culminated in his current roles, where he serves as a crucial military second-in-command to Kim Jong Un.
