Chris Beard

Chris Beard, born on February eighteenth, nineteen seventy-three, is a prominent American basketball coach currently leading the men's basketball program at the University of Mississippi, commonly known as Ole Miss. His coaching journey has seen him at the helm of several institutions, including Texas, Texas Tech, Little Rock, Angelo State, and McMurry.

Beard's early life in The Woodlands, Texas, shaped his passion for basketball. He graduated from McCullough High School before embarking on a collegiate journey at the University of Texas. There, he served as a manager under the guidance of former Longhorns coach Tom Penders, ultimately earning a Bachelor of Science degree in kinesiology in nineteen ninety-five. His academic pursuits continued at Abilene Christian University, where he obtained a Masters of Education in nineteen ninety-eight while also contributing as a graduate assistant.

Under Beard's leadership, the Texas Tech Red Raiders achieved unprecedented success, making the deepest NCAA Tournament runs in the school's history. In two thousand nineteen, the Red Raiders not only set a school record with thirty-one wins but also advanced to the NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Championship Game, facing off against the Virginia Cavaliers. His exceptional coaching abilities earned him the prestigious title of AP National Coach of the Year in two thousand nineteen.
