Chris Gayle

Chris Gayle, born on September 21, 1979, is a former Jamaican cricketer who made a significant impact on international cricket as a member of the West Indies team from 1999 to 2021. Renowned as the greatest Twenty20 batsman in cricket history, Gayle's career is marked by numerous records and accolades that highlight his extraordinary talent and contributions to the sport.

Throughout his illustrious career, Gayle played a pivotal role in the West Indies' triumphs in the 2004 ICC Champions Trophy, the 2012 ICC World Twenty20, and the 2016 ICC World Twenty20. He is celebrated for being the most capped player for the West Indies in international cricket and the only player to achieve a triplet of centuries across formats: a triple hundred in Tests, a double hundred in ODIs, and a hundred in T20Is.

In T20 cricket, Gayle stands out as the only player to surpass fourteen thousand runs and hit over one thousand sixes. He is the leading run scorer for the West Indies in both ODIs and T20Is, and he was the second player, after Brian Lara, to score more than ten thousand runs in ODI cricket. His remarkable innings of two hundred and fifteen against Zimbabwe remains the highest individual score by a left-handed batsman in ODI history.

In addition to his batting prowess, Gayle has taken over two hundred international wickets with his right-arm off-break spin bowling. His achievements include being awarded the Most Valuable Player in the 2011 Indian Premier League and holding the Orange Cap in 2012. Notably, on April twenty-third, two thousand thirteen, he set the record for the fastest T20 hundred, scoring one hundred seventy-five runs off sixty-six balls for Royal Challengers Bangalore, a feat that also marks the highest score in T20 history.

Gayle's Test career saw him score over seven thousand runs at an average exceeding forty-two, and he captained the West Indies Test team from two thousand seven to two thousand ten. After expressing a desire to retire from ODIs post the 2019 Cricket World Cup, he played his final ODI match in August 2019 against India.
