Mayce Edward Christopher Webber III, widely known as C-Webb, was born on March 1, 1973. He is a celebrated former professional basketball player who made a significant impact in the National Basketball Association (NBA) over a remarkable fifteen-season career. The majority of his time in the league was spent with the Sacramento Kings, where he became a household name.
Webber's journey to stardom began in high school, where he was recognized as the National High School Basketball Player of the Year, leading his team to three Michigan State High School Basketball Championships. He continued to excel at the collegiate level, becoming a first-team All-American and a key member of the renowned Fab Five at the University of Michigan, which reached the NCAA Men's Division I Basketball Championship games in 1992 and 1993.
Despite his accolades, including being drafted number one overall in the 1993 NBA draft, a five-time NBA All-Star, and a five-time All-NBA Team member, Webber's career was not without controversy. He faced legal challenges that led to his indictment by a federal grand jury and the loss of his All-American honors due to his involvement in a scandal related to booster payments.
After retiring from professional basketball, Webber transitioned into a successful career as an on-air commentator for NBA games. He has also shared his knowledge and experience by teaching at institutions such as Wake Forest University and Morehouse College. In recognition of his contributions to the sport, he was inducted into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame in 2021.
