She made her debut for the United States national team during an international friendly against Scotland on February ninth, two thousand thirteen, and has since made one hundred fifty-five appearances, scoring sixty-four goals, which ranks her ninth all-time in the national team's history.

A standout at Stanford University, Press was awarded the Hermann Trophy in two thousand ten and holds the all-time scoring record for the Stanford Cardinal. Following her collegiate success, she was selected fourth overall by the Washington Freedom in the two thousand eleven WPS Draft, where she quickly made a name for herself as the WPS Rookie of the Year.

Press's international career includes stints with several clubs, including the Chicago Red Stars and Utah Royals in the National Women's Soccer League, as well as Tyresö FF and Kopparbergs/Göteborg FC in Sweden's Damallsvenskan. Notably, she was the top scorer in the Damallsvenskan in two thousand thirteen, becoming the first American to earn the Golden Boot award in the Swedish League.

Her contributions to the United States national team were pivotal in securing titles at the FIFA Women's World Cup in two thousand fifteen and two thousand nineteen.
