Christian Dailly

Christian Dailly, born on October 23, 1973, is a distinguished Scottish former professional footballer renowned for his role as a centre-back. He began his career as a teenager at Dundee United, where he played as a striker and contributed to the team's triumph in the 1993–94 Scottish Cup. As his career progressed, Dailly transitioned to a defensive position, showcasing his versatility on the field.

In 1996, Dailly made a significant move to the English Premier League, joining Derby County. After two seasons, he transferred to Blackburn Rovers for a fee of five million three hundred fifty thousand pounds. His time at Blackburn was marked by challenges, including the club's relegation in 1999, which saw Dailly lose his starting position.

In 2001, Dailly signed with West Ham United for one million seven hundred thousand pounds. His tenure with the Hammers included a relegation in 2003, followed by a remarkable promotion in 2005. Notably, he played as a substitute in the 2006 FA Cup final, where West Ham faced Liverpool in a dramatic penalty shootout.

After a loan spell with Southampton, Dailly joined Rangers in January 2008, where he played a pivotal role in the team's journey to the 2008 UEFA Cup final. His final match for Rangers was in the 2009 Scottish Cup final, contributing to their victory over Falkirk. Dailly's career concluded in 2012 after stints with Charlton Athletic, Portsmouth, and Southend United.

On the international stage, Dailly earned 67 caps for the Scotland national team between 1997 and 2008, including participation in the 1998 FIFA World Cup. He also holds the record for the most appearances for the Scotland under-21 team, with thirty-five caps from 1990 to 1996.
