By the early 1930s, he transitioned into screenwriting and directing, establishing himself as a versatile talent in the cinematic world.

Throughout his illustrious career, Christian-Jaque directed numerous films, with notable works including 'Lucrèce Borgia' in nineteen fifty-three, 'Madame du Barry' in nineteen fifty-four, and 'Nana' in nineteen fifty-five, featuring his then-wife, actress Martine Carol. His film 'A Lover's Return' was showcased at the 1946 Cannes Film Festival, marking a significant milestone in his career.

Christian-Jaque's directorial prowess was recognized at the Cannes Film Festival in nineteen fifty-two, where he won the Best Director award for the swashbuckling adventure 'Fanfan la Tulipe.' This film also earned him the Silver Bear award at the second Berlin International Film Festival. His contributions to cinema continued as he served on juries at prestigious events, including the first Moscow International Film Festival in nineteen fifty-nine and the eleventh Moscow International Film Festival in nineteen seventy-nine.

Despite a shift towards television work in the 1970s, Christian-Jaque remained active in the industry until the mid-1980s. He married Laurence Christol in nineteen sixty-one after his marriage to Martine Carol ended in nineteen fifty-nine. Christian-Jaque passed away in Boulogne-Billancourt in nineteen ninety-four, leaving behind a rich legacy in French cinema.
