Christian Tumi, born on October fifteenth, nineteen thirty, is a distinguished Cameroonian theologian and a prominent figure in the Catholic Church. His journey in the ecclesiastical hierarchy began with his appointment as the bishop of Yagoua in nineteen eighty, a role he held until nineteen eighty-two.
In nineteen eighty-two, Tumi became the coadjutor bishop of Garoua, and by nineteen eighty-four, he ascended to the position of bishop there, serving until nineteen ninety-one. His leadership and dedication to the Church were recognized when he was elevated to cardinal in nineteen eighty-eight, marking a significant milestone as he became the first and only cardinal from Cameroon.
