Christina of Denmark

Christina of Denmark, born in November fifteen twenty-one, was a prominent Danish princess and the younger surviving daughter of King Christian II of Denmark and Norway and Isabella of Austria. Her noble lineage set the stage for a life marked by significant political influence and royal connections.

Through her two marriages, Christina ascended to the titles of Duchess of Milan and later Duchess of Lorraine. Her role as a duchess was not merely ceremonial; she actively engaged in governance, serving as the regent of Lorraine from fifteen forty-five to fifteen fifty-two during the minority of her son, showcasing her capability in leadership during a tumultuous period.

In addition to her ducal responsibilities, Christina was a claimant to the thrones of Denmark, Norway, and Sweden from fifteen sixty-one to fifteen ninety, reflecting her enduring royal aspirations. Furthermore, she held the title of sovereign Lady of Tortona from fifteen seventy-eight to fifteen eighty-four, further solidifying her status in the European aristocracy.
