Chrisye

Hajji Chrismansyah Rahadi, known to the world as Chrisye, was born on September 16, 1949, in Jakarta, Indonesia. With a rich heritage of mixed Chinese-Indonesian descent, Chrisye's passion for music ignited at a young age. During his high school years, he showcased his musical talent by playing bass guitar in a band he formed with his brother, Joris. His journey in the music scene began in the late 1960s when he joined the band Sabda Nada, which later evolved into Gipsy, led by his neighbors, the Nasution family.

After a brief hiatus, Chrisye returned to Gipsy in 1973, performing in New York for a year. He made several trips back to Indonesia, collaborating with various artists, including Gipsy and Guruh Sukarnoputra, to produce the indie album Guruh Gipsy in 1976.
