Clara Hagarty

Clara Hagarty, born in 1871, was a distinguished Canadian painter renowned for her exquisite floral compositions. Her artistic journey began with studies in New Jersey, Paris, and the Netherlands, where she honed her skills in both paints and pastels.

In recognition of her talent, Hagarty was elected to the Ontario Society of Artists in nineteen hundred and three, followed by her election to the Royal Canadian Academy of Arts in nineteen hundred and four. These accolades marked her as a prominent figure in the Canadian art scene.

During World War I, she dedicated her efforts to the Red Cross in London, showcasing her commitment to service beyond the canvas. After the war, she continued to contribute to the arts community by working at the Art Gallery of Toronto until nineteen twenty-eight.
