Clarence Campbell

Clarence Campbell, born on July ninth, nineteen oh five, was a prominent figure in the world of ice hockey, serving as both a jurist and a referee. His career in the National Hockey League (NHL) began in the 1930s, where he quickly made a name for himself on the ice, officiating some of the most memorable games of the era.

In addition to his contributions to hockey, Campbell served his country during World War II as a soldier in the Canadian Army. This experience not only shaped his character but also influenced his leadership style in the sports world.

After the war, Campbell took on the role of the third president of the NHL, a position he held from nineteen forty-six to nineteen seventy-seven. His presidency was marked by significant events, including the infamous Richard Riot and the landmark expansion of the league in nineteen sixty-seven, which transformed the landscape of professional hockey.
