Claudio Coello

Claudio Coello, born on March second, sixteen forty-two, was a distinguished Spanish-Portuguese Baroque painter, renowned for his significant contributions to the art world during the seventeenth century. As the son of Faustino Coello, a celebrated Portuguese sculptor, Claudio inherited a rich artistic legacy that would shape his own career.

Coello served as the court painter for Charles II, a role that placed him at the heart of the Spanish royal court. His artistic endeavors were not limited to royal commissions; he also left an indelible mark on numerous churches and public buildings throughout Madrid.

Among his many works, the sacristy of El Escorial stands out as his most famous achievement.
