Coco Lee

Coco Lee, born on January seventeenth, nineteen seventy-five, was a remarkable Chinese-American musician, singer, songwriter, and actress. She began her illustrious career in Hong Kong in nineteen ninety-three, quickly rising to fame in Taiwan with a series of successful albums that solidified her status as an iconic figure in the music industry. Over her career, she released eighteen studio albums, two live records, and five compilations, becoming one of the best-selling artists in Asia.

Often referred to as the 'Asian Mariah Carey', Lee was celebrated for her captivating Americanized dance routines. She lent her voice to the lead character, Fa Mulan, in the Mandarin version of Disney's 1998 animated film Mulan, performing the beloved theme song 'Reflection'. This role marked a significant milestone in her career, showcasing her versatility as an artist.

Lee made history as the first Chinese singer to achieve global music releases, breaking into the Western market with her nineteen ninety-nine album Just No Other Way, the first English-language album recorded by a Chinese artist. Her single 'Do You Want My Love' from the year two thousand reached impressive heights, peaking at number four on the US Billboard Hot Dance Breakouts Chart and entering the top fifty of the US Billboard Dance Club Songs Chart.

In addition to her musical achievements, Lee's song 'A Love Before Time' from the film Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Original Song, and she made history by performing it at the seventy-third Academy Awards, becoming the first and only Chinese artist to grace the Oscars stage.
